Fred who!
The tropical depression bearing down on the northeast is expected to finish blowing through the area in plenty of time on Thursday, Aug. 19, for Sayville’s “Live on Main” evening event to go off without a hitch.
Weather forecasters predict Fred’s rain will taper off in Sayville by noon. The downtown party — featuring live music, family activities and entertainment, outdoor dining and shopping — is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. and go until 9 p.m.
Main Street in downtown Sayville will be temporarily closed to accommodate the good times.
Highlighting the night’s festivities will be musical performances featuring the likes of Jules Radino, who is the drummer from Long Island’s own Blue Oyster Cult, and Dave March, a founding member of the critically acclaimed folk rock ensemble Miles to Dayton.
Also playing will be singer/songwriter/voice coach extraordinaire Jack Licitra of Sayville; Dave Diamond, drummer with The Zen Tricksters; and songwriter and vocalist Victoria Faiella.
This will be the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce’s first ever “Live on Main.” It was supposed to be the second. But wet weather forced the cancellation of the one scheduled for July 29.
The chamber is set to host another “Live on Main” on Aug. 26.
