This Lindenhurst Village screen printing shop found a creative way to support local businesses during the COVID-19 health crisis.
Last month, the owner of South Shore RoyalTees began a fundraising effort that donates the profits of his new “Lindy Pride” shirt design to locally-owned Lindenhurst businesses.
These shirts, which can be purchased online here, feature Lindenhurst landmark locations wrapped inside of a green heart.
After placing an order, patrons have the choice of which local spot they’d liek to donate to. There are currently 200 businesses to choose from.
“We want to help out and support these businesses during these trying times,” said South Shore RoyalTees owner Mitch Mendell. “We also want to try and keep busy and make the best for the situation.”
So far, over 100 shirts have been sold, totaling $500-plus in donations. For every $500 raised, South Shore RotalTees will be kicking in an extra $100 to the cause, said Mendell.
The shirt campaign will run to April 19. After that, the money raised will be distributed to the local businesses via checks.
“If we can help cover a simple bill for these businesses; that’s what it’s all about,” said Mendell, who grew up in Lindenhurst.
South Shore RoyalTees is one of the latest examples of a local aiming to lend a hand during the virus outbreak, says Lindenhurst Village trustee RJ Renna.
“As always Lindenhurst does what it does best by supporting its community in its greatest time of need,” said Renna. “The village is extremely proud of the businesses who are stepping up to help out and the community of people that are keeping these businesses afloat during this pandemic.”
