In doughnut news that’s likely to blow the minds of sweet tooths across Long Island, the legendary Glenn Wayne Bakery is opening Glenn’s Donuts — the company’s first brick-and-mortar shop — in Selden on July 1.
Until now, Glenn Wayne has operated only as a wholesale bakery in Bohemia, focusing on producing baked goods in large quantities for distribution to various businesses. This includes restaurants, cafes, delis, convenience stores and catering services across Long Island and the greater New York area.
To sum up Glenn Wayne’s popularity: If you’ve sunk your teeth into a 7-Eleven doughnut, you’ve had a Glenn Wayne doughnut.
The new shop will be located at Independence Plaza on Route 25.
Here’s co-founder Glenn Alessi himself — poised behind boxes of “Strong Island’s Best” doughnuts and wearing a fitted Glenn’s Donuts T-shirt — spilling the dough on Instagram about the company’s new store.
Glenn Wayne Bakery is a family-owned and operated business in operation since 1990. It was founded by Alessi and his brother-in-law, Wayne.
The bakery isn’t just in the doughnut business. They also sell danishes, cookies, muffins, butter cookies and other baked items. The popular outlet store at Glenn Wayne Bakery is open Tuesday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
