Christmas Tree Shops finds new life with Texas arcade and bowling chain

|

A new entertainment destination is on its way to Deer Park.

Greater Long Island has confirmed that Main Event, a Texas-based restaurant and arcade chain, is opening its first Long Island location at Tanger Outlets.

The massive venue — which combines dining with bowling, arcade games, music, laser tag and other attractions — will take over the large space previously occupied by Christmas Tree Shops, then a Wayfair store.

Main Event opened its first location in 1998 in Lewisville, Texas, and now operates more than 60 venues nationwide, including in Orlando, Atlanta and Memphis.

Think Dave & Buster’s, but more family-oriented.

This Reddit discussion compares and contrasts the two chains well.

“While Dave & Buster’s is basically beer and video games, Main Event is more active,” one user wrote. “They have laser tag, obstacle course, bowling, pool.”

Deer Park will also be Main Event’s first New York location. The closest one is currently in Delaware.

Construction is underway, though an opening date has not yet been announced.

(Editor’s note: Main Event is not affiliated with the restaurants of the same name in Plainview and Farmingdale.)
