Manorville man charged with DWI after crash seriously injures wife

A Manorville man is accused of driving drunk in an accident that seriously injured his newlywed wife.

A Manorville man facing a drunk driving charge after a Saturday night crash in East Moriches left his newlywed wife seriously injured.

The crash occurred about 8:30 p.m. on East Moriches Boulevard at Locust Avenue, cops said, when Zachary Kollegger, 37, of Manorville, lost control of his 2021 Chevrolet Traverse and crashed into a wooded area.

Kollegger and his wife and passenger, Kristin Regina, 34, also of Manorville, were both transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead before being transferred to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore.

Regina, a registered nurse at Stony Brook University Hospital, is being treated for serious injuries, while Kollegger sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Kollegger was charged with driving while intoxicated and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date. The vehicle was impounded.

Married last fall, the couple have two young children.
