Massapequa Coast wins third straight NY title, keeps Little League World Series hopes alive

|

Just maybe the third time is the charm.

Massapequa Coast Little League’s 12U team has won the New York state title for a third year in a row.

The state championship sends the league’s latest group of 12-year-olds to the Little League Baseball Metro Region Tournament. Representing Long Island and all of New York, Massapequa Coast will play Saturday in Bristol, Connecticut, at 7 p.m. Their game will be broadcast live on ESPN.

Massapequa’s 2022 12U team reached the Little League World Series. The Long Island boys earned New York and Metro division Little League championships, but their magical run ended in the Little League World Series, with losses to Honolulu, 12-0, and to Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, 7-1.

The 2023 Little League Baseball World Series starts on Aug. 16 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
