Massapequa’s Dante Torres, star QB at St. Anthony’s, commits to play at Harvard

|

Dante Torres, the star quarterback of St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington, has made his college choice.

On May 3, Harvard University announced that Torres had committed to play football for the Crimson beginning in the fall of 2023.

Torres, who was named the 2022-23 Gatorade New York Football Player of the Year, had received numerous offers from Division I football programs across the country. But in the end, he decided that Harvard’s blend of academic excellence and athletic competitiveness was the best fit for him.

Torres, of Massapequa, will be joining a Harvard team that finished 6-4 overall in the 2022-23 season, including a 4-3 mark in Ivy League play. The Crimson will be looking to improve upon that record in 2023-24 with Torres leading the way.

The 6-foot-3, 193-pound senior quarterback passed for 3,320 yards and 35 touchdowns, and also rushed for 504 yards and 13 scores. He also led his team to a Catholic state title in November with a thrilling come-from-way-behind win against Saint Francis High School in Buffalo, N.Y.
