Suffolk cops arrested two drivers for racing on the Long Island Expressway at speeds above 100 mph, police said.

Dean Carfora, 24, of Lloyd Harbor, and Matthew Famighette, 24, of West Babylon are accused of racing in the eastbound lanes near Ext 58 about 8:45 p.m. on Thursday. Both were driving 2024 Mercedes Benz sedans, authorities said.

Officers from the department’s Street Takeover Task Force observed two vehicles weaving through traffic at speeds exceeding 100 mph. Both drivers were pulled over safely, police said.

The two drivers were cited for illegal speed contest, reckless driving and additional violations of the vehicle traffic law and Suffolk County law, authorities said.

The vehicles were seized, and the drivers are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Jan. 24.

The arrests are part of ongoing efforts by the Street Takeover Task Force to combat reckless driving and illegal street racing in Suffolk County.
