Baseball slugger Daniel Vogelbach continues to ingratiate himself with the Long Island community, visiting this past weekend with current and former members of the United State Merchant Marines baseball team in Kings Point.
The New York Mets slugger spoke to the team and alumni who were visiting the campus for the baseball program’s annual alumni game on Saturday. And Mets fans loved it.
“Vogey is as good a guy as you will find,” James Tesio tweeted.
On Facebook, Theresa Lambertson posted, “Wow! That’s awesome! What a guy“
This isn’t the first time Vogelbach made visited with young baseball players on Long Island during some downtime. The Mets’ designated hitter spent time in Massapequa earlier this month teaching little leaguers at a youth baseball clinic.
Fan favorite
Vogelbach became an instant favorite among Mets diehards shortly after the club traded for him in late July. After a dry spell at the plate in late August and early September, Vogelbach has been swinging a hot bat.
Over his last seven games, he’s batting .462 with seven RBIs.
Vogelbach is in the midst of a hot streak for the Amazin’s.
