Music teacher is first to win free Southwest flights at Nashville Thursdays

Nashville Thursdays

Of all the people lucky enough to score two free Southwest Airlines tickets to Nashville, Tenn., it was Denise Romas.

This Longwood music teacher was just announced as the first winner in the weekly giveaway at Nashville Thursdays in Bay Shore.

And she’ll be flying nonstop out of Islip’s MacArthur Airport.

The winner was picked last Friday under the watchful eye of Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter (pictured in middle, holding winning ticket), MacArthur Airport commissioner Shelley Larose-Arken, deputy commissioner Rob Schneider, and representatives from Southwest Airlines.

Drawings will be held Fridays through July 2, with the winners selected at random.

But the only way to enter is by heading down to Bay Shore’s Main Street on Thursdays for this musical celebration, where, just like on Broadway in Nashville, many of the bars are offering a mix of free, live music.

How it works is simple. The participating locations (listed below) will each have free raffles on hand, between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. All patrons will have the chance to fill out a ticket and drop it in the box on hand.

“We are excited that the town and the airport have partnered with us to make our Nashville Thursday event even better with a chance to win a flight to experience Nashville’s famous Broadway strip,” Mike McElwee of the Bay Shore Restaurant Committee, which runs the weekly outing, previously told GreaterBayShore.
