A new concept in nail salons is coming to Patchogue this summer. Think spa experience and getting your mani-pedi all while sipping on a glass of vino.
Polish Nail & Bar will be opening their newest location at 27 South Ocean Avenue. According to the owner, they are expecting to open their doors this July.
Founders Mike and Danielle Issa have brought change to a retail service that has taken root in almost every strip mall on Long Island: the typical nail salon.
The idea is to provide a place for working women (and men) to go who do not have time to get themselves pampered during the usual business hours of a nail salon. All with a twist.
Mike Issa claims that his is the only place like it in New York and the name describes it all.
“We are not your typical run-of-the-mill nail salon,” he told GreaterPatchogue. “We are a nail salon and a wine bar.”
They are open until 10 p.m. for people who need to get their nails done, unwind, and have a drink.
Currently, there are two locations for Polish Nail & Bar: Wantagh and Smithtown. In addition to the Patchogue location, the owners plan to open another in Huntington.
Polish Nail & Bar offers full wine, coffee and tea bars and soon will be rolling out fresh juice and veggie bars at their locations.
They install a triple ventilated system in their locations, filtering out the smells usually found inside similar shops.
“You can’t tell you’re in a nail salon,” he said. “We pride ourselves on that.”
Issa said that the company uses organic nail gels imported from London that are cruelty-free, meaning they are not tested on animals.
He says they were recruited to come to Patchogue by one of their clients.
“The broker who found us that property is a client who comes to Smithtown and lives in Patchogue,” he said.
At a paint party in their Smithtown location the client asked if they would ever come to Patchogue.
Issa said that the couple loves locations like Patchogue and was especially attracted to its “extremely warm and friendly” atmosphere.
“They’re welcoming and open to new ideas,” he said.
The location on South Ocean Avenue also fit the bill perfectly.
“We wanted to be on Main Street but not on Main Street,” he said.
Issa likes the exclusivity the location provides that’s three of four storefronts off a major intersection. There is also convenient parking closeby.
Part of the culture of Polish Nail & Bar is giving back to the community they become a part of. One dollar out of every transaction gets donated to a local charity. They provide a few charities to pick from and the customer chooses who gets the donation.
The experiential atmosphere of Polish Nail & Bar is disrupting a business that had become very transactional.
“We’re bringing fresh air to the industry,” Issa said.
