New doughnut shop in Port Jefferson launches delivery to Stony Brook students

|

Now that they’re away from the watchful eyes of mom and dad, incoming Stony Brook University students are discovering the biggest perk of freedom: doughnuts all the time!

The problem is, many freshmen and sophomores don’t have cars on campus.

Which means it’s not that easy to make it over to East Main & Main, the new premium doughnut shop in Port Jeff.

So EM&M is bringing the doughnuts to them.

Delivery to SBU starts Monday.

“Our ‘Cereal Killer’ is like the number one doughnut for college kids; it’s Fruity Pebbles with a cereal milk glaze,” explained East Main & Main’s Lisa Harris, who opened the instantly popular doughnut shop with Robert Strehle in June.

“We might also offer a box of four different cereal doughnuts,” she continued. “We’re trying to think of what we could do special for them.”

EM&M doughnuts will soon be available for purchase through the university’s Wolfie Wallet food points system, joining the over two dozen other off-campus food purveyors.

Delivery to SBU will be offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. There will be a $20 minimum per order, which typically amounts to a half-dozen doughnuts.

“We already get a lot of Stony Brook students on weekends,” said Harris. “So now we’ll be able to reach them during the week, at a time when most are probably wrapping up their classes for the day.”

The shop also received interest in delivery from faculty and other university employees.

The doughnut drop-off point will be at the Student Center. Students will receive a text when their box of premium doughnuts has arrived.

For those with no ties to Stony Brook University, Harris doesn’t anticipate home delivery anytime soon.

But, she did say the crew at East Main & Main is considering other ways to offer these creative concoctions away from the shop at 250C East Main Street.

“This is just one step toward that,” she said.
