New Monopoly The Hamptons Edition puts East End property up for grabs

|

Southampton Main Street and Cedar Point Lighthouse usurp Marvin Gardens and Pennsylvania Avenue in the new MONOPOLY The Hamptons Edition board game.

Top Trumps USA, the American division of United Kingdom-based game creators Winning Moves International, released the East End-centric version of the family game under license from Hasbro on Tuesday.

“We’re thrilled to kick off summer with the launch of MONOPOLY The Hamptons Edition and to celebrate one of New York’s most beloved, culturally rich and geographically beautiful regions,” Dennis Gavaghen, a Top Trumps USA representative said in a press release. “We’ve spent months creating a portrayal of the area’s dynamic communities that we hope locals and visitors alike will enjoy for years to come.”

All the real estate properties on the path of the square game board are Hamptons famous, including such landmarks as the Camp Hero Radar Facility and the Agawam Park World War Memorial, as well as popular shops and restaurants, such as Sag Harbor Books, Stevenson’s Toys and Hampton Chutney.

Also up for grabs are natural beauties like the Montauk Boardwalk Trail and the Sag Harbor Sand Dunes, along with four transportation staples: Hampton Jitney, Hampton Ambassador, Montauk Airport and the Long Island Rail Road.

Montauk Lighthouse and Shelter Island occupy the highly coveted and high priced dark blue squares that fans of the traditional Monopoly game board know as Park Place and Boardwalk. Nonprofits East End Hospice and Hamptons United receive shout-outs on a pair of the board’s chance and community chest spaces.

Fans can purchase the game in a wealth of local shops and destinations, including Lynne’s Cards and Gifts, Sugar Daddy’s Toys, Stevenson’s Toys, Southampton Books, BookHampton, The Wharf Shop, Sag Harbor Variety, Captain Kids / Homeport, The Roundtree, Amagansett True Value, Mary Arnold Toys, Funky Monkey Toys, Eastport Little Secret, Long Island Aquarium and Ace Hardware locations.

The Hamptons-based game joins Top Trumps USA’s line of other Hasbro licensed community-centric Monopoly games, including Brooklyn, Palm Springs, San Antonio, Cambridge and Manhattan Beach editions.
