Greater East End coverage is funded in part by Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, raising the expectations of what a community hospital can be.
Eastern Long Island may experience hazardous weather yet again.
The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch and a Marginal Flood Threat from 1:05 p.m. to 7 p.m. for all of Suffolk County.
Forecasters predict gusts of wind up to 65 mph and hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter. Heavy rainfall at a rate of 1 inch per hour could cause flooding issues.
“Isolated flash flood potential where multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms occur, mainly for parts of Southeast Connecticut and Eastern Long Island,” the weather warning reads.
The Town of Riverhead reiterated the warning to the press in an email on Monday and reminded the public to report power outages by contacting PSEG at 1-800-490-0075 or online at https://www.psegliny.com/.
“Please make sure to check on your neighbors, especially the elderly and homebound,” reads the advisory by Riverhead Town. AND HOMEBOUND.
This potentially hazardous storm is expected just a week after flash flooding caused millions of dollars in damages to northwestern Suffolk, ultimately destroying both Mill Pond in Stony Brook and Stump Pond at Smithtown’s Blydenburgh Park, as well as causing sinkholes that condemned homes and ripped up roadways.
