Fire Island Ferries resumes service to Ocean Beach after weeks-long standoff

|

After months of failed negotiations and over a week-long service suspension, an agreement between the Village of Ocean Beach and Fire Island Ferries, Inc. has been reached.

Ocean Beach Village Mayor Jim Mallott and Fire Island Ferries announced that all ferry and water taxi services will once again run to and from Ocean Beach beginning tomorrow.

The mayor reported this during the latest Village Board of Trustees public hearing on March 19, which the Ocean Beach Association confirmed on Facebook.

Fire Island Ferries, Inc. released a statement on its website noting that service to and from Ocean Beach will remain suspended on March 19 and those traveling to Ocean Beach must arrive or depart from Seaview for the rest of the day.

Freight service resumes March 21, the ferry company said.
