Paddleboarding on Long Island from Babylon to Bellport

|

Moku Loa Paddle Tribe, Oakdale

The Moku Loa Paddle Tribe is not just about getting on the water and paddling, they’re looking to create a community and culture through bringing people together to paddleboard. Every Wednesday night, Moku Loa hosts a social paddle, where paddlers from all over Long Island paddle out to join them on the water.

You can easily go rent equipment, but it’s really the personal touch that counts,” said Sheila Malone, owner of Moku Loa, along with Mary Sullivan and Rob Fioresi.

They consistently have 50-70 people on the water with them during their busy season and the social nights have helped some people even find dates (I mean, it couldn’t hurt).

Moku Loa offers lessons by experienced World Paddle Association- and CPR/AED-certified instructors for any skill level, from “just off the couch” to “been swimming for years.”

You can also find the Moku Loa Paddle Tribe volunteering in the communities where they use the water.
