Paddleboarding on Long Island from Babylon to Bellport

|

South Shore Paddleboards, Babylon

With the mission of “Be happy, paddle on,” owner Karen Marvin promotes a mix of exercise and tranquility all year round at South Shore Paddleboards, the largest SUP shop on Long Island.

Even Tina Fey has stopped in to buy a board, and there are more than 80 in stock. Her expert staff can help you choose the perfect board and even help you dress the part on the way out.

South Shore Paddleboards offers rentals, lessons by World Paddleboard Association (WPA) instructors, tours, yoga, group sessions and a kids clinic to get your young paddler started right.

After Superstorm Sandy, Marvin started Saving Our Seashore, a corporation that focuses on the restoration of Long Island beaches.

“I was really devastated by the destruction I saw on Long Island,” Marvin said.

Her Saving Our Seashore clothing line and accessories fund coastal recovery programs through Save the Great South Bay and the Surfriders Foundation.

Every year, South Shore Paddleboards sponsors a Stand Up Paddleboard Race with proceeds benefiting Save the Great South Bay. Approximately 85-90 paddlers race from the Bay Shore Yacht Club, turn around at the Robert Moses Bridge and finish back at the Yacht Club.
