The Patchogue-Medford School District is bringing in two acclaimed guest speakers to talk about children and parenting this month.

Both speakers will be at Saxton Middle School auditorium at 7 p.m., but on two different dates.

The first to arrive will be Yale University and Columbia University alumna Lenore Skenazy, who takes the stage at Saxton in Patchogue on Jan. 11.

As an author, columnist, and blogger, she is well known in fields of child developmental topics that range from the Let Grow organizational techniques, to parenting practices.

She is a popular speaker with thousands of followers on Twitter. She’s also made several high profile appearances in person and TV, such as her spot on The Daily Show.

Then on Jan. 16, Peter Gray, Ph.D.,will be speaking at the school. He is an author and research professor at Boston College and will be focusing on the importance of play and learning.

Also the author of Free to Learn, Dr. Gray talks about how free play can help children thrive.

Note: Dr. Gray was originally expected to appear at Saxton Middle School Jan. 4, but that was pushed back due to the storm.
