Two student-musicians at Patchogue-Medford High School will march and perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the school district announced on Monday.
Trumpeter Katie Curcio, a senior, and percussionist Michael Russell, a junior, have been selected for the Macy’s Great American Marching Band.
They’re part of a select group. Only 185 student-musicians are selected from across the United States for the prestigious band.
Katie and Michael are rehearsing with the band this week in New York City to prepare for their live Thanksgiving performance, which will be featured on NBC on Thursday.
The parade begins at 8:30 a.m. and goes until noon. Its route primarily runs along Sixth Avenue in Manhattan.
