‘Paws for a Cause’ dog fashion show to be held in Bay Shore this Sunday

|

Tails will be wagging at the upcoming Paws for a Cause dog fashion show fundraiser and adoption drive.

The Islip Animal Shelter is partnering with Long Island Against Domestic Violence for the show, which goes from 1 – 4 p.m. April 14 at the YMCA Boulton Center for the Performing Arts.

In addition to seeing cute pups, the goal of the day is to raise awareness for animals who get caught in the crossfire of domestic abuse.

“We know all too well, that the devastating effects of domestic violence touch all members of the family, including pets,” said Jennifer Capezza of Long Island Against Domestic Violence. “Abusers will often turn violent toward a pet.”

To support these animals, funds raised from the outing will go toward animal support life-saving services, according to Capezza.

During the show, the dogs will be facing-off in categories that include Best Human/Pet Duo, Best Overal Costume and Celebrity Look-a-Like.

The family-fun event will also include vendors, prizes, and adoption meet and greets by the Islip Animal Shelter.

It is $30 to register a pet into the runway competition. After that, tickets are sold at $15 each for adults and $10 each for children ten years old and under.
