Photos: Families build giant 10-foot LEGO menorah in the Hamptons

|

One of the world’s largest LEGO menorahs was erected on Long Island this weekend.

On Saturday, the seventh night of Hanukkah, families from across the Island gathered at Hampton Synagogue in Westhampton to take part in the event. The celebration was held at Jack’s House, the synagogue’s children’s center.

Around 7 p.m., families began building the Judaic candelabrum brick by brick. By the end of the night, the menorah stood roughly 10 feet tall — just shy of the world record.

According to Guinness World Records, the tallest LEGO menorah ever built measured more than 14.8 feet and was constructed in Tel Aviv in 2022.

The Westhampton LEGO menorah took about an hour to complete and was made up of approximately 75,000 pieces. Event organizers believe it is among the largest LEGO menorahs ever built in the region.

For comparison, a six-foot LEGO menorah was built in Seaport, Manhattan, this winter, while a 12-foot menorah was erected last year in Dobbs Ferry, Westchester County.
