Seafood paellas, mofongos, and chicharron are among the staple menu items at this brand-new Latin American restaurant in Bay Shore.

The new eatery, named El Pilón, founded by Puerto Rican-born Jose Colon, is located in the prominent space previously occupied by Viva Juan at 275 West Main Street.

Colon launched his new venture with a grand opening Nov. 29.

“Where eating good doesn’t cost you more,” the Bay Shore resident wrote of his restaurant on Facebook.

And there’s already been some rave reviews online.

“Great food, great atmosphere, owner on site making sure all runs smooth can’t wait to come back,” one Facebooker commented.

El Pilón is open seven days a week, Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
