Port Jeff’s Port-Opoly continues to bring together retailers, shoppers

|

Port Jefferson Retailers Association finished up its second-ever Port-Oply game, and, again, it was a success.

“A lot of customers were excited to see the game back again this year,” said Steve Muñoz of The Amazing Olive.

To play the game, patrons had picked up Monopoly-themed game boards that are filled with Port Jefferson retail locations. Every time a shopper then bought an item at a participating merchant they receive a mark on their board.

The more marks meant more raffles for the grand prize at the end of the contest.

Port-Oply ran from Oct. 6 through Nov. 12.

This year’s grand-prize winner went to William Sheehan, a Port Jefferson resident, who shopped at 11 shops. He received a gift basket with a variety of items from different village retailers.

In addition to Sheehan, there were two other basket winners and 10 other contestants who earned $20 worth of Port Jefferson Retail Dollars.

Muñoz wasn’t the only business owner to see the excitement that drew from Port-Oply.

“We had a lot of returning costumers,” said Marianna Cucchi of The Soap Box. “One of the winners from last year came backs with the hopes of winning again.”

The Retailers Association told GreaterPortJeff that Port-Oply will be back for the 2019 holiday season.
