Women have always been able to host a party, but now they also have “A Seat At The Table!”

Before women had the whole month, the U.S. recognized Women’s History Week; before that, a single International Women’s Day. Now we dedicate the whole month of March in honor of women’s achievements!

Locally, we are lucky to have some dynamic women in political leadership positions. To honor these women, the Patchogue Medford Public Library is hosting a panel to celebrate local women in government and their leadership roles within their communities.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Patchogue-Medford Library.

The goal of A Seat At The Table is for the public to hear these leaders’ stories of how they came to serve in their positions, and for them to share tips and resources for those who wish to get involved with politics or community leadership.

Find out who and what inspires them, and what their hopes and aspirations and for the future are.

Eva Greguski,  the chief of staff for Legislator Rob Calarco, will be moderating the panel. So far the confirmed panelists are state Senator Monica Martinez, Brookhaven Town Clerk Donna Lent, and Patchogue Village Clerk Patti Seal.

Get the inside scoop on how and why these women came to be in their current roles, and their experiences both personally and professionally.

Have you ever wanted to get more involved politically and didn’t know how or where to start? This is the perfect opportunity.

Women in leadership and civic engagement discuss the current status of women in government and share resources, tips and tricks for women who would like to run for office or become community leaders. For more information contact the Patchogue Medford Public Library, 631-654-4700, www.pmlib.org.
