Time is back on Sayville’s side.
Downtown Main Street’s iconic clock will make a triumphant return this month, Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce President Eileen Tyznar reports.
Tyznar said a replacement for the Main Street timepiece destroyed two years ago is on its way from the clock maker Electric Time in Medfield, Massachusetts.
The street clock will first be delivered in three boxes to a Town of Islip warehouse, before being put together and installed at its home on the north side of Main Street, in front of Hammer & Stain.
A special “Tick Tock on Main Street” event is being planned for the new clock’s public unveiling later this month, Tyznar said.
The old clock was struck by a delivery box truck in an accident caught on video. The clock was removed and eventually deemed beyond repair.
