Sayville’s Jack Coan scores a tryout with the Seattle Seahawks

|

Signal caller Jack Coan worked out with the quarterback-starved Seattle Seahawks this week, according to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson.

This marks the third NFL team that the former Sayville High School and Notre Dame quarterback has tried out for. During pre-season he was among the final cuts after playing in three pre-season games with the Indianapolis Colts, and earlier this month, he auditioned for the Las Vegas Raiders.

Former New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith has led the Seahawks offense thus far this season, following Seattle’s trade of Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos. And former Bronco and Missouri grad Drew Lock swerves as Smith’s back up.

Next in line is Sean Mannion, an eight-year veteran out of Oregon State now leading Seattle’s practice squad offense.

Coan shined in a pre-season matchup against Detroit, tossing a last-minute touchdown pass to fellow rookie Samson Nacua to bring the Colts within one point of the Lions.

Following his transfer from Wisconsin, the 2017 Sayville High School graduate helped lead Notre Dame to an 11-2 record in 2021 and a berth in the Fiesta Bowl.

The Seahawks are 3-3 and locked in a three-way tie with the Los Angeles Rams and San Fransisco 49ers for first place in the NFC West.
