Shelby’s Kitchen, a beloved family-owned deli in Bellport Village, is closing after a four-year run, according to a report.
Tom and Michelle Krupa opened the shop in December 2021 at 124 S. Country Road, taking over the space formerly occupied by Village Bistro. The closure was reported on Monday by The Long Island Advance.
Known for its welcoming atmosphere, Shelby’s Kitchen served such homemade baked goods as cherry, apple and coconut custard pies and chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin and peanut butter cookies.
They also offered bagels, freshly made iced teas, smoothies and catered meals.
The Krupas have not yet announced what will take the deli’s place, and Greater Long Island was unable to reach them for comment Monday night.
Earlier this month, Tom Krupa shared on Facebook that he has been diagnosed with stage four cancer of the prostate, liver, and colon and is currently undergoing radiation treatment.
“I have a long road ahead of me and I pray all will be ok. Michelle being my rock has been by my side and supports me one hundred percent,” Tom Krupa wrote on Facebook. “I need to be ok not only for myself but for her as well. So please I ask you all to pray for us.”
