Community news outlet GreaterBabylon readies for spring launch

|

The greaterlongisland.com family of community news outlets is expanding operations to feature the people, history and businesses of another historic South Shore downtown and its surrounding areas.

GreaterBabylon, which will cover Babylon Village, North Babylon, West Babylon and West Islip, will be unveiled later this spring.

The announcement comes less than a year after the sites’ publisher and longtime New York journalist Michael White (formerly of West Babylon) launched GreaterBayshore.

GreaterBayShore has been viewed over 400,000 times since its May 31, 2016, launch.

Like the other sites, GreaterBabylon will present community news through stories and videos daily — in a way that’s fun, informative and engaging. The editorial focus will be on news features and events coverage, as opposed to crime and politics.

The company’s first news site, GreaterPatchogue, launched on July 1, 2015, and has been viewed over 1.7 million times in less than two years.
