Sobol in Sayville is closing its hot kitchen

|

The hot kitchen is closing — but the bowls will carry on.

So goes the new deal at Sobol in Sayville. The açai bowl giant will shut down the hot food kitchen at its flagship location on Friday, May 28, for good.

“It was a very hard choice for us as we have so many fond memories of feeding you and your families over the years,” The Sobol Team said in its announcement on Instagram. “We are going back to our core roots of serving the most delicious bowls and smoothies, how it all started back in 2014.”

Ownership explained that with Sobol franchises opening up across the country, the flagship Sayville location needed to have a similar bowl and smoothie menu and operation as the rest of the system.

“We look forward to continuing to be a part of the community and your lives,” they said in their announcement Tuesday night.

The news came much to the chagrin of some loyal customers.

“R u kidding me dude wtf No more empanadas? Soo shot,” read one comment on Sobol Sayville’s Instagram announcement.

Another said, “Heart broken RIP breakfast burrito .” And others lamented about having to say good-bye to the Sobol’s empanadas.

Started in 2014, Sobol now counts more than 50 locations nationwide.
