The Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe is throwing one electrifying birthday party for the legendary inventor himself — and everyone is invited.
On Saturday, July 12, the Shoreham nonprofit is hosting the Nikola Tesla Expo 2025 in honor of Tesla’s 169th birthday.
The celebration runs from 5 to 9 p.m. and will be packed with hands-on exhibits, cutting-edge tech, live entertainment, and a massive drone light show finale. (The rain date is July 19.)
Organizers are calling this Long Island’s biggest drone show to date — and with hundreds of drones from Sky Elements Drone Shows, the same group featured on America’s Got Talent, it’s shaping up to be a can’t-miss spectacle.

The family-friendly expo will take over Tesla’s former lab grounds with interactive experiences and showcases in robotics, electric vehicles, renewable energy, and even space exploration. The Cradle of Aviation Museum is bringing artifacts to check out, and VR fans can take a virtual tour of Wardenclyffe through the “Explore Wardenclyffe” headset experience.
There’s also a full slate of stage programming, including:
- Shawn Barnes from the U.S. Space Force Association
- The Mad Science Chemical Tesla Coil Show
- Filmmaker Joe Sikorski
- Live acoustic tunes by Acoustic Downtime
And of course, there’s food and drink. Blue Point Brewing and Paumanok Vineyards will be pouring, with oysters and eats from food truck favorites like Roll Ghost, Right Coast Taqueria, and Mr. Softee.
The night ends with a bang — or rather, a buzz — as hundreds of zero-emission drones light up the sky in a sustainable, high-tech tribute to Tesla’s wireless legacy.
