The big annual fundraiser in memory of fallen FDNY firefighter Billy Moon of Islip is all set for Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall in Wantagh from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 19.
Moon, 47, of Rescue 2 in Brooklyn, lost his life after falling 20 feet while preparing for a training exercise in December 2022 at the firehouse, leaving behind two children, 10 and 12, and his wife, Kristina.
“His final act as a first responder was to honor his wishes and donate his organs,” Kristina said. “He saved the lives of five others, including two retired members of the FDNY. “
In his memory, Kristina and a team of supporters created The Billy Moon Foundation “to honor his legacy to build advocacy and awareness around the impact of organ donation,” she said.
And the foundation’s biggest day of the year is this fundraiser. The entry cost is $85 and that includes open bar, food and live music by Peat Moss and The Fertilizers.
