Stony Brook University has received a top 10 ranking for its online master’s in nursing program from U.S. News & World Report for the sixth straight year.
The program is ranked eighth nationwide in the annual online schools report, released on Monday. It earned particularly high marks in student excellence, engagement, and services and technology.
The university says the program provides working nurses with the flexibility to pursue advanced degrees without interrupting their careers. Its online curriculum incorporates updated tools and resources tailored to meet the demands of nursing education, the university explains.
More than 600 students are enrolled in the program, which has been recognized for its balance of academic quality and accessibility.
U.S. News online rankings overview
U.S. News’ online college rankings study evaluates programs at 1,790 colleges and universities across the country. Factors such as faculty credentials and training, available services and technology, student engagement, and expert opinions on academic quality are taken into account.
The assessment also weighs in student excellence, measured by undergraduate GPAs, acceptance rates, and work experience.
Other Long Island schools rank highly
Several other Long Island institutions earned recognition in the U.S. News’ rankings:
- Hofstra University (Hempstead): No. 14 for online MBA programs.
- Molloy University (Garden City): No. 57 among best online bachelor’s programs.
- New York Institute of Technology (Westbury): No. 66 for online master’s in engineering programs.
- St. Joseph’s University, New York (Patchogue): No. 79 for online master’s in business programs.
