Summer street festival series being planned for downtown Babylon Village

Get ready to circle two more dates on your South Shore street festival calendar.

The Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce has announced its launching a new afternoon street fair series called Babylon Block Party.

“This is going to be an intimate, family fun event,” the chamber’s president, Jacqueline DiDonato, said Tuesday night.

The Block Party will consist of live music, vendors and penned off areas for restaurants to expand onto the streets.

“There’s going to be plenty of activities for the kids,” said DiDonato. “This is going to be a nighttime version of our Spring Fling and Fall Festival.”

As of now, the dates aren’t definitive, but the festivals are being planned for Thursday, Aug. 30, and again on Thursday, Sep. 20, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. During the event, Deer Park Avenue will be closed off to vehicles from Main Street to Railroad Avenue.

“We want it to be a ‘wow’ night,” said DiDonato.
