Grab your John Deere hats and wheelbarrows because work at Tractor Supply Co. in West Babylon has commenced.
Although Tractor Supply missed its anticipated spring opening at the former ShopRite space at 50-110 Route 109, Supervisor Rich Schaffer confirmed to Greater Long Island this week that the Tennessee-based retailer “picked up their building permit about a month ago.”
“They have started their interior alterations, including adding several access points on the east side of the building,” he said.
Current work inside, observed by a GLI reporter, includes framing and sheet-rocking.
“The store is now set to have its grand opening in early fall of this year,” said a Tractor Supply spokeswoman. “The store will be about 15,500 square feet and provide about 15 new jobs to the area.”

In 2024, the town awarded Tractor Supply Co. a $20,000 to help with the move, GLI previously reported.
The West Babylon store would be Long Island’s fourth, as there are locations in Medford and Calverton, with another set to open later this month in Islandia.
The ShopRite in West Babylon closed on October 10, 2021.
