Taking Back Sunday had this Lindenhurst backyard rocking for a private show

It doesn’t get much cooler than this.

The popular rock band Taking Back Sunday, from Long Island, was back on the island this weekend to play a show — but not in an ordinary location.

It was in somebody’s backyard in Lindenhurst.

“It was a party, man. It was sick,” said Costas Themistocleous, a huge Taking Back Sunday fan who was invited to the backyard concert through a friend.

The private show, which was held on Sunday, was part of a music video that the band was filming in the area, said Themistocleous.

After they finished shooting, they played a six-song set for about 80 people.

And, of course, they played their classic “MakeDamnSure.” You can watch the clip below that Themistocleous filmed, which has been exploding on social media.

Between the songs, Themistocleous said they would engage with the crowd and answer questions about their songs.

“They were genuinely cool dudes,” said Themistocleous, who is the co-owner of the ’90s throwback bar Nostalgia in Bethpage. “Really down-to-earth, humble people.”

Taking Back Sunday, originally formed in 1999 in Amityville, last performed on Long Island last year at Jones Beach with Third Eye Blind, a show that Themistocleous also went to.

“Being able to see them now in such an intimate setting, I was like, ‘Wow, that’s cool,'” he said.

Taking Back Sunday is currently touring and has upcoming shows in Las Vegas, St. Louis, Kansas City, Mo., and two cities in Florida. Click here to learn more.
