Bay Shore’s St. Patrick’s Parade organizers want everyone to know the parade is still marching on Saturday, March 14, despite some indoor events being cancelled around the island over coronavirus fears.
“Rumors and misinformation are spreading like wildfires,” reads a memo being circulated by the parade committee. “We need help spreading the word, the parade is still a go … Please help get the word out.”
What’s officially called the Bay Shore Brightwaters St. Patrick’s Day Parade starts at 2 p.m. at Saxon Avenue and ends at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church to the west. It goes until about 4:30 p.m.
It marches along Main Street rain or shine; there is no rain date.
This year’s grand marshal is Timothy Mooney, the president of Fire Island Ferries. Visit the parade website to learn more about Mooney.
Bay Shore’s parade is among the largest on Long Island.
