The Loading Dock’s opening night draws a crowd to Patchogue Theatre

|

Its location was a well-guarded secret for weeks, with only hints being dropped around Patchogue in the form of posted notes and sidewalk chalk art.

And all that curiosity creation paid off.

The Loading Dock — billed as a new venue for emerging musicians and comedians in Patchogue — is coming off a very successful first night (more photos below).

Hundreds of people were invited after requesting access to the industrial-style speakeasy scene Thursday night.

People granted access were given these instructions via email:

1. You must find The Loading Dock. Coordinates are
40.7665569, -73.0133494 | Go to http://maps.google.comclass=”gmail_default”

2. Find the Door with the eye on it and be there by 7:15PM on Thursday. It’s $20 (per person) at the Door for the Show.

3. If asked, PASSWORD is SILENCE.

Through the coordinates, they learned The Loading Dock was at Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts.

But, it’s backstage.

It was $20 at the door for the opener, a comedy night hosted by known comic and actor Joseph Vecsey of The Unmovers web series.

“We couldn’t be happier with the response from Opening Night of The Loading Dock,” said theater spokesman Bernie Fabig. “Our guerrilla marketing campaign worked and people were really intrigued to find out what TLD was about. The crowd absolutely loved it!”

The theater’s executive director, Gary Hygom, said he and the theater’s administration and board believe they have a responsibility as a community performing arts center to offer opportunities for lesser-known artists from the island.

So about once a month, the theater stage and the adjacent loading dock area will play host to a party for them.

The next date for The Loading Dock is April 12. Request access to taht date or the May 10 installment by clicking here: https://t.co/69yrZHlrue

Those who have been granted access will get thee details in an email.

Doors will always open at 7:15 p.m., with the shows starting at 8 p.m. Those who don’t show up by 7:45 p.m. will forfeit their spot, then those on the waiting list will start being allowed in. It’s $20 for the show. Beer and wine will be available at the bar.

The Loading Dock is working on getting a full liquor license.
