The owner of Salah’s Halal in East Islip plans Commack location

|

Some South Shore folks may recognize the name of this new halal spot in Commack.

Salah’s Halal Food opened at 103 West Main Street in East Islip back in May, and now owner Siraj Salahudeen is gearing up to open a second, larger location at 95 Commack Road.

Salahudeen confirmed on the restaurant’s Facebook page he is aiming to open in Commack sometime at the end of this month.

Similar to the first location, Salah’s Halal Commack will offer a variety of traditional halal dishes and motorcycle-themed sandwiches for takeout and delivery.

Salahudeen, who lives in Commack, is an avid motorcyclist, so each sandwich will be named after a motorcycle as a nod to his hobby, as well as the motorcycle groups he is a part of.

Like Super Glide from Harley-Davidson, which would include halal bacon, grilled chicken, and other fixings.

Other traditional halal dishes include the “Devil Chicken Gyro,” which is a Sri Lankan recipe of sweet and spicy chicken, tossed with onions and other veggies, wrapped in naan bread — it is cooked in the restaurant’s clay oven.
