The first Babylon Block Party of the year has been canceled due to the rainy conditions.
The event, which was scheduled for today, was called off early this morning by the event’s organizers, the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce, after looking at the stormy forecast.
The chamber’s president, Kelly Peckholdt, told GreaterBabylon it was a tough call because the weather is scheduled to clear up for the street fair but not during set up time, which is around 4 p.m.
Though the streets will not be blocked off, several downtown businesses will still be offering promotions for the night.
“It will still be a great night in Babylon Village!” Peckholdt wrote on Facebook.
The chamber is working on a rain date. Additionally, there are two more Block Party dates scheduled for July 18 and Aug. 29.
