There’s a buzz in Bellport after Town & Country stopped by the village and came away with this headline:
Why Everyone is Rushing Off to Bellport, NY
“Right now everyone, and we mean everyone, is trying to purchase their own little piece of perfection in Bellport,” the article reads.
The piece, by Logan Sykes and published on TownandCountrymag.com Tuesday, also gives a shout-out to the sense of community in the bayside village, with a not-so-veiled swipe at the Hamptons:
“Don’t be fooled by the town’s laid-back vibe, there’s always something to do, and always a way to get involved (which people actually like to do there. Togetherness. What a concept.)”
David Rice of Rice Realty Group Inc. pointed out that Bellport has gotten good press in the real estate pages as of late, most recently with a May 20 article in the New York Post, and a 2014 piece in The New York Times.
“I think it’s always a great thing when Bellport is in the media,” he said. “It lets people know about our great little piece of paradise.”
“We have always referred to Bellport as the ‘Un- Hamptons,’ which is why it draws such great people to buy homes and live here, both full time families and second home owners,” he continued. “When I am showing clients homes in Bellport I always tell them we are unlike the Hamptons because in the Hamptons people dress in Gucci and put makeup on to get an egg sandwich, whereas in Bellport we wear shorts and flip flops.
“Its a great place to live, work and play, and I am glad to call it home.”
As of Thursday the Town & Country article already had well over 3,000 shares on Facebook.
