Two Long Island breweries have earned statewide recognition in MyBartender.com’s newly released 2025 Top 30 Breweries in New York State list.
Sand City Brewing Co. in Northport and Root + Branch Brewing in Copiague were the only Long Island breweries to make the cut on MyBartender‘s list, landing at No. 14 and No. 24, respectively.
No. 14: Sand City Brewing Co. – Northport

Founded in 2014, Sand City Brewing Co., originally in Northport, has become a staple of the Long Island craft beer scene, adding a Lindenhurst location in 2021. MyBartender praised the brewery’s “dedication to creating bold, hop-forward beers,” and highlighted its “juicy IPAs and flavorful stouts” as standouts.
“Sand City’s commitment to quality is evident in every batch,” the site noted, adding that the brewery’s small-batch approach “allows them to experiment with different flavors and ingredients, keeping their lineup fresh and exciting.”
Located in Northport Village, Sand City is known for operating a laid-back taproom and for generating a loyal local following.

No. 24: Root + Branch Brewing – Copiague

Root + Branch Brewing, which opened its brick-and-mortar taproom in Copiague in 2022, has quickly earned a reputation for quality and creativity. Known for its small-batch brewing and bold, modern styles, the brewery was recognized by MyBartender for its “dedication to innovation, often pushing the boundaries of flavor while maintaining a focus on balance and drinkability.”
The site also noted Root + Branch’s collaboration with local farms and its “cozy taproom and welcoming atmosphere,” calling it “a great spot for anyone looking to try something new and exciting.”
Positioned just underneath the train tracks at the Copiague railroad station, the brewery and tasting room at 360 Marconi Blvd. reflect a passion for history, philosophy and beer all under one roof. The name Root + Branch is inspired by a literary group and magazine that the owner’s college history professor started with his former colleagues when they were in graduate school at Harvard University.
The brand was originally launched as a nomadic beer project before establishing its permanent home on Long Island.
