Update: Rainy forecast postpones Patchogue’ Italian Festival of St. Liberata

|

Patchogue’s Italian Festival of St. Liberata has been postponed by one week.

Originally scheduled for this Saturday, the festival will now take place on Sept. 14 due to potential inclement weather.

“Expect all the same great food, entertainment, and activities next Saturday. Abbondanza!” reads the announcement regarding the date change.

For those planning to attend, keep scrolling to see what to expect.

Know before you go

From noon to 6 p.m., Main Street will be closed for the festival. The day will kick off with the traditional parade, which will begin in front of the Suffolk County District Court and finish off at the Four Corners at 12:45 p.m.

Many of the restaurants will be serving meals on the streets.

Families will also be able to enjoy the classic and Italian car show, children’s dance contest, face painting, a magician and ballon maker. Keep reading for more highlights for the feast.

2024 Italian American of the Year

The 57th annual St. Liberata Festival will honor Patchogue’s Knights of Columbus #725 as the 2024 Italian Americans of the Year. Last year, Rob Calarco, a former Suffolk County legislator, earned the honor.

Zeppole eating contest

Love zeppoles? Then you’re in luck. There’s a zeppole eating contest at 4 p.m. on the main stage on Main Street. You can sign up at the Greater Patchogue Foundation booth.

All money pinned to the statue of Saint Liberata during the ceremony and throughout the festival is donated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Saint Frances de Sales Outreach.

Vino in the Village
