It was just a piece of family memorabilia.
Nonetheless, the bullet that a child brought to a West Sayville elementary school on Wednesday morning caused a bit of alarm.
Suffolk County Police confirmed to GreaterSayville.com on Friday that Fifth Precinct Crime Section officers are investigating the incident at Cherry Avenue Elementary School.
Soon after it was revealed that the 9-year-old student had brought a bullet to school, the school principal was notified and contacted police, cops said.
“The bullet was memorabilia belonging to a family member and the child did not have criminal intent,” police said in a statement. “No threats were made.”
Authorities added that the child’s parents are cooperating with police.
