After going much of the summer without one, Long Island finally saw another resident strike it rich playing lotto.
Zhu Wu Chen of Woodbury claimed the $1 million prize this week he won playing New York Lottery’s VIP Millions scratch-off game. Chen received a single lump sum payment of $651,000, after required withholdings.
The winning ticket was purchased at a BP gas station located at 200 South Oyster Bay Road in Syosset.
The last Long Islander to claim winnings of a $1 million or more playing a New York Lottery game was Genine Plummer of Islip in June.
She won a second prize playing $1,000 A Week For Life second prize, matching the first five numbers drawn in the May 26, 2022, CASH4LIFE game. She claimed the prize nearly a year after the drawing.
