10 Photos: Scenes from Sunday’s Ecuadorian Festival in Patchogue

The 5th annual Long Island Ecuadorian festival was held all day Sunday behind Bravo Supermarkets along Academy Street in Patchogue Village.

There was music, dancing, food, beer and wine, as well as different vendors.

The Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce executive director, David Kennedy, was also on hand to present a check of $3,100 to the Fundacion Lucero de America, which organized the day’s events.

The money was raised through the newly formed Patchogue for Ecuador this spring as part of relief efforts after a major earthquake struck the country April 16, followed by several aftershocks. and left more than 650 people dead, according to news reports.

Patchogue for Ecuador is made up of members of the chamber’s Hispanic business leaders, the Greater Patchogue Foundation’s cultural heritage committee, as well as Patchogue Village employees and the Fundacion Lucero de America, founded in the memory of slain Ecuadorian immigrant Marcelo Lucero. 

Patchogue has the second-largest Ecuadorian population in New York.
