The 2024 election results are in.
Donald Trump has secured more than 270 electoral votes, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris to become the 47th president of the United States.
Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, garnered strong support in both Long Island counties.
In Suffolk, the Trump/Vance ticket won over 54% of the vote, with 402,924 votes to Harris’ 323,473. In Nassau, they received more than 51% of the vote, tallying 355,276 votes to Harris’ 322,131.

Propositions
Equal Rights Amendment passes in New York
A statewide proposition to protect abortion rights, also known as Equal Rights Amendment by supporters, was approved. Read more about the prop here.
Suffolk voters approve clean water prop
Suffolk County voters have overwhelmingly approved Prop. 2, the Suffolk County Water Quality Restoration Act. Click here to read more about the proposal, which was championed by Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine.
New roundabout is coming to East Hampton
Residents of the Town of Easthampton passed a proposal to create a new roundabout Three Mile Harbor and Springs-Fireplace Roads in response to safety concerns. Read more here.
Water quality improvement in Southampton Town
Southampton voters agreed to repurpose 43 South Main Street for an incoming water quality improvement project. The town will also be adding new parkland at 137 Pond Lane. Read more here.
