The Gateway’s Mamma Mia! runs through Aug. 5 at Patchogue Theatre

The international smash hit Mamma Mia!, presented by The Gateway, takes the stage Wednesday, July 19, at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts and runs through Aug. 5.

Mamma Mia! is based on the songs of ABBA and has broken box office records worldwide, with viewers totaling more than 60 million, according to The Gateway.

The show’s hit songs include “Super Trouper,” “Dancing Queen,” “Knowing Me, Knowing You,” “Take a Chance on Me,” “Thank You for the Music,” “Money, Money, Money,” “The Winner Takes It All,” and “SOS.”

Stage and screen star Patrick Cassidy is making his Gateway debut as Sam.

Cassidy won the 2002 National Broadway Theatre Award for Best Actor for his performance in Elton John’s Aida, and was nominated for an Emmy for his performance on the TV miniseries “Dress Gray.”

On television, he has guest starred on “Law & Order SVU,” “Castle,” “Crossing Jordan,” “Without a Trace,” “According to Jim,” “CSI Miami,” and “ER,” and others.

Starring as Donna is Joan Hess, who is also making her Gateway debut.

Hess appeared in the Broadway production of Mamma Mia! as Tanya and also appeared in the Broadway productions of Dirty Rotten ScoundrelsBells are Ringing, Crazy for You, and Kiss me Kate.
