Everything to know for Sunday’s boat parade on Patchogue River

|

Patchogue’s annual Christmas Holiday Boat Parade pushes off this Sunday night, Nov. 19, on Patchogue River.

Here’s what to know before heading down:

• This event is not to be confused with the Saturday, Nov. 25, Christmas Parade down Main Street, Patchogue.

• The boats, close to 30 in all hailing from across the South Shore, start making their way up Patchogue River at 6 p.m., and the night wraps up around 9 p.m.

• The (free) public spots for families to view the parade include (click for maps and directions): Sandspit Park, Beach & Marina, the Watch Hill Ferry Terminal.

• Families will typically begin arriving to the parks after 4 p.m.

• Riverfront restaurants open for the parade include (click for websites): Off Key Tikki, Harbor Crab Co., The Oar Steak & Seafood Grille, and the new Drift 82.

• There’s live entertainment at Sandspit and the Davis Park terminal locations, as well as the restaurants. The boats head up the river and turn in front of the Crab.

• There’s a preview night with a people’s choice award on Saturday, Nov. 18, at Off Key Tikki.

• It takes about an hour for the boats to sail up and down the river.

• There’s no voting. Judges will declare Sunday’s winners.

• This year’s theme is A Hollywood Christmas. The theme is optional.

• This is the 24th annual boat parade in Patchogue.

• Depending on the weather, it’s estimated up to 5,000 people make their way to the riverfront.

• This is a rain-or-shine event.

• Call or text 631-804-0595 to enter your boat for the parade.
