Southside HospitalĀ in Bay Shore has just announced the creation of nine private rooms for joint replacement patients to recover after surgery.
āHaving private rooms allows a patientās family member or caregiver to more comfortably and actively participate in their care, which is particularly helpful in the patientās transition to home,ā Lenny Nartowicz, the hospital’s deputy executive director, said in a statement.
āThis also allows the patientās care to be more individually tailored to them.ā
Each of the nine rooms boats a Nightingale phone, which allows patients to contact a nurse with only the push of a button, and hospital officials say there are more technological advances anticipated for within the unit’s first year.
According to Southside Hospital, its total joint replacement program has been recognized by the Joint Commission for its high-quality patient care since 2016.
