Some nut swiped a hybrid wolf from the Brookhaven Ecology Site, Park & Animal Preserve in Holtsville under the cover of darkness Sunday night into Monday, official said.
Suffolk County police are on the trail but they’re asking for the public’s help in the safe return of the 7-year-old female, Nakita.
The person or people cut a fence within the preserve, located at 249 Buckley Road. The hybrid wolf, who was surrendered to the facility about a year ago, was then stolen from her cage.
Fifth Squad detectives are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call631-854-8552 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
